In March 1952 the 300 SL prototype - forerunner of all subsequent Mercedes-Benz SL generations - was presented to a selected group of journalists at a motorway service station between Stuttgart and Heilbronn. In the same year, the 300 SL won a number of major international motor racing events - Mille Miglia, Le Mans, Carrera Panamericana - to name but a few. The era of the legendary SL sports car had begun. The exhibition is divided into 4 thematic areas - „motor racing“, „innovation“, „design“ and „world of SL“ - and tells the trailblazing story of the SL using selected vintage SLs and plenty of illustrations.
